Today, on my way to the downtown, I was sitting on the bench at the train station, waiting fot the train to come. Its was very windy outside, when I say very windy - I really mean it. I thought of myself as Dorothy from the Wonderful Wizard of Oz, I had a feeling that if wind blows harder it will be able to stir me up and carry away. However, I made my way to the center, where I went to the Social Security office (third time) to get my SS card, but I failed again because they need an original form which I dont have, as it was taken away from me on US passport board. Is it just me - or this kind of things really piss off? So now I need a miracle and a bunch of patience, while I am making phone calls to the different departaments and finding out how to get the original back.
Albeit its a last day of the September, its 25 degrees, humid and thick air out here, nothing like the end of the first month of Autumn back in London, neither (especially) back in Riga. Evety time Im getting ready to go out - I get confused what to wear. Forget jeans, jackets, boots, hats - its realy warm/hot here. And.. I LOVE IT!
As I learned from the natives - most of the city guests tend to joke about that its always sunny in Philadelphia, they would go with a question like - 'So is it true that its always sunny in Philadelphia?' And as I understand it comes from the American television sitcom aired on in 2005, starring a remarkable Danny DeVito. And yeah, its called 'Its Always Sunny In Philadelphia'. (havent seen it yet though, but am downloading first season now)
However, all I can say - there might be a grain of truth in that phrase. I've been here for two weeks - and its was cloudy or raining only two or three times/days. So see for yourself.
And one more thing - I've been working for 9 days (sometimes its crazy, sometimes its quiet - but there is a loooot of things I have to learn, a lot), and I had my first two days off - but somehow they came up to the end, unfortunately.
Upd: There is a flood warning in Philadelphia (becuase of the heavy rain); some lines are suspended; and there are delays on airlines. Just great, I can only imagine what its gonna be like tomorrow at work.
Love,
Yana
